Natural vs Synthetic?

At Nox, you will find feminine, fun, and functional clothing made from natural fibers such as cotton, linen, hemp, silk, and wool that are good for you and good for our planet. The inherent characteristics of natural fibers offer verified health benefits such as advantages in breathability, temperature regulation, durability, water/sweat absorption, antimicrobial properties, and more. Natural fiber clothing looks and feels good against the skin, drapes beautifully, does not cling to the body, and you will rarely ever be too hot or too cold when wearing natural fibers.

In contrast, synthetic fibers, such as polyester, are made from acids and alcohols that are derived from petroleum. Synthetic fibers do not have the same health benefits as natural fibers, and instead disrupt the normal function of the skin due to their low breathability, hygroscopy (water absorption), and temperature regulation. This, in turn, creates a “greenhouse” effect which can weaken or damage the normal skin barrier and encourage a favorable condition for bacteria growth. For those with sensitive skin or chronic skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and even acne, the negative characteristics of synthetic fibers can worsen these skin disorders and the course of allergic reactions.
